A member of the ASEAN and the APEC, Vietnam has signed free trade agreements with many other countries to speed up its economic growth. Our strategic partner’s factory is in Binh Duong, a province just outside the suburbs of Ho Chi Minh City and the one among all provinces of Vietnam with the most investment from Taiwanese businesses.

Climate and Accommodations

Vietnam is a humid country with a yearly average temperature of around 29 degrees Celsius.

The rainy season is from May to October, and the dry season is from November to April. Factory workers stay in an employee dorm that comes with meal and housekeeping services as well as basic furniture, electrical appliances, and the Internet.

Daily Life and Transportation

Conveniently located, the dorm is a 10-minute walk from the closest grocery store and a 15-minute drive to larger supermarkets. On weekends, you can take either the company car or Grab to get to downtown Ho Chi Minh. With a variety of both Eastern- and Western-style restaurants, stores, and department stores, it is the equal of downtown Taipei.

Culture and Holidays

The eclectic Vietnamese culture has been deeply affected by both Chinese and Western influences. Using a lunar calendar similar to the Taiwanese one, the Vietnamese also celebrate the Lunar New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Moon Festival, but with their own Vietnamese twist.

Local Lunar New Year traditions include shopping, ancestor worship, and putting up spring couplets; in particular, the Vietnamese also eat rice dumplings to celebrate this holiday.
